LESSON 7 OF 14
FOUNDATION 1 PART IV: THE NIGHTTIME ROUTINE
In the last few lessons, we’ve covered setting up your baby’s day and night, creating a bit of a rhythm for their daytime and tips for the afternoon and evening wind down. The final step in Foundation 1 is all about the night-time routine and helping to support your baby towards longer stretches of overnight sleep.
Babies have a strong startle reflex, which can cause them to wake up and cry with the slightest stimulus, such as a gust of wind or involuntary movements of their legs and feet. Swaddling your baby protects them from external elements that may disrupt their sleep, and is the best solution for keeping baby still while they can’t control the movements of their limbs just yet.
